Sample
creation and activation
Login
Start FlavorCapture
by clicking on the FlavorCapture icon on
the desktop.
FlavorCapture login dialog is displayed.

Login as user: administrator, password:
administrator.
Press the button.
The FlavorCapture main menu is displayed.

Company
and contact creation
Company and contact information can be stored
and maintained in FlavorCapture for easy later
access.
In this example we will create a new company with
one related contact person.
Press the Company button in the Contact
section.

The Company form is opened in insert mode.

Fill in the required fields with the following

Select the Contact tab.

An overview is displayed showing contact
persons related to the current company.
Create a new related contact by clicking the
New Contact button.

The contact form is opened in insert
mode.
The contact inherits the company information.

Sample creation
Samples are grouped in samplegroups.
In this example we will create one samplegroup
consisting of two samples.
To create a new samplegroup press the Samplegroup
button from the Samples section.

The Samplegroup form is opened
in insert mode.

Fill in the following required fields

Select the tab Samples.

An overview is displayed showing samples
related to the current samplegroup.
Create a new related sample by clicking the
button New Sample
The Sample form opens in insert
mode.
The sample is initiated with status Created

We will now create another
sample with the duplicate sample functionality.
Press the Duplicate Sample
from the Sample Toolbar.
A new sample is created.
Values from the target sample are copied except
for the fields KNumber and Treatment.
Fill in the following required
fields with the specified values.

Close the sample.
We are now back to the Samplegroup on
the Samples tab showing the two samples we have
just created.
Close the Samplegroup
form.
Sample
activation
To mark the samples ready for taste evaluation
we need to activate the samples.
The samples will in this process chance status
from Created to Evaluation Active
Select the Overviews tab in the main
menu.
Select the Sample Activation Overview.

The Sample Activation Overview is shown.

The overview shows all samples in the
system with status Created or Evaluation
Active.
We will now activate our two previously created
samples and generate glass marks.
Press the button Activate All from the
Sample Activation toolbar to activate all samples
in the overview.

Alternative we could activate specific
samples by manually changing the status.

The two samples have now changed status
to Evaluation Active.

Generate sample glass marks by pressing
the button Generate Glass Marks from
the Sample Activation toolbar.

Random glass marks starting from the
letter A is generated.

The samples are ready to be evaluated
by the tasters.
Close the Sample Activation Overview.
Sample activation
Report
We will now print a sample evaluation report
showing samples with status evaluation active
and their corresponding glass mark.
Select the Reports tab in the main menu.
Select the Sample Activation from the
Reports section.

The Sample Activation Report is shown
View Appendix A to see this report.
Close the report.
Exit FlavorCapture
Click the button Exit FlavorCapture from
the main menu to exit.

Sample
evaluation
Login
Click the Flavor Capture web front-end icon
on the desktop or type in the address of the
web server manually.
The Flavor Capture welcome screen is displayed.

Click the button
or press <RETURN>.

The Flavor Capture login screen is displayed

Sample
evaluation
Click the button
or press <RETURN> on the user welcome
dialog.
The sample evaluation overview is displayed,
showing all the samples in the system with status
Evaluation Active.
The samples are appearing in a random order
for each taster.

Press the button
in line with sample marked A or type
ea <RETURN> in the command field
to Evaluate Sample marked A.
The AJL sample evaluation scheme is shown.
Type in some values and press
the button
or <RETURN>
We are now back at the sample evaluation overview
The sample marked A
is now marked as partially or completely evaluated
with the icon .
Evaluate Sample marked B analogous to
previous.
The sample marked A and the sample marked
B is now marked as partially or completely
evaluated.
Approve the sample marked A by
typing aa <RETURN> in the command
field or pressing the button
in line with sample A.
Approve the sample marked B by
typing ab <RETURN> in the command
field or pressing the button
in line with sample B.
The evaluation of sample A and B
is now approved by taster cmm
Click Logout in the
top menu to logout user guest1.
Click login button to login with another user
profile.
The Flavor Capture login screen
is displayed

The samples are appearing in a random order

Evaluate the two samples
analogous to the previous user profile.
Click the button
or type in ca in the command field to
compare sample marked A.
The compare screen is displayed.
Compare your values with the
values from the other tasters and the calculated
average.
Adjust values if necessary and press the button
or <RETURN>.
Approve the sample marked A and B.
When all users have
evaluated and approved all samples the
additional sample information can be revealed.
Press the button.
The additional sample information is displayed.
Press logout from the
top menu.
The logout screen is displayed
Close the web browser.
Start FlavorCapture
by clicking on the FlavorCapture icon
on the desktop.
FlavorCapture login dialog is displayed.
Login as user: administrator,
password: administrator.
Press the button.
The FlavorCapture main menu
is displayed.
The evaluated samples have
changed status to evaluated.
We will now approve the evaluation
of the samples.
Select the Overviews tab in the main
menu.
Select the Sample Approval
Overview.
The Sample Approval Overview
is shown.
This overview shows all samples
in the system with status Evaluated.
Double-click the row header
on sample A to view sample information.
Select the Evaluations tab.
The evaluations overview is
displayed.
Double-click the row header
on user guest1 to view user guest1
evaluation results.
Press the button to view
taster guest1 evaluation results.
If necessary adjust the evaluation
results and close the form.
Close the Taste Evaluation
form.
Close the Sample form.
We are now back at the Sample
Approval Overview.
We will now approve our two
evaluated samples.
Press the button Approve All from the
Sample Approval toolbar.
or Approve the samples
manually by changing the status.
The two samples is now Approved
and removed from the sample approval overview.
Close the Sample approval
overview.
We will now generate the report
showing evaluation results.
Select the Reports
tab in the main menu.
Select the Sample Evaluation Results.
The sample selection dialog
is displayed.
Multiple selections are possible allowing batch
printing.
Select sample with KNumber
TEST1 and select the Preview option
button in the bottom.
Press the button
to preview the report.
The sample evaluation report is shown (Se Appendix
B).
Close the sample selection dialog.
Click the button Exit FlavorCapture
from the main menu to exit.
